I'm kinda surprised Suki isn't in the 11. She seemed like an automatic choose to me. Any reason for her absence? I think she'd play well off a lot of the other characters.

I might swap out Appa for Momo. Unless you need Appa as the ultimate get out of a "we're screwed" moment by busting in, I think Momo's ability to get into small places that humans can't might be more useful for things like stealing shiny objects or pickpocketing them. Plus he can be the perfect distraction when needed. I can see Sokka or even Jojo trying to train Momo to do some of these things much to Aang's disapproval when/if he finds out someone has corrupted his lemur.

I think it's also a good idea not to include Aang, Zuko, or Katara for the reasons you mentioned though I hope we get to see some cameos maybe in an epilogue when they get to hear about the results of the heist and we see their reactions to the whole thing.

Of the remaining slot(s) I like Lavania's idea for Meng best I think. Though they all sound good. It's hard to choose.

Yeh-Lu has good potential too, he's been a bad guy with the most evil past of the group. He'd be the guy on the team with the mysterious past that no one would know. Plus he has not only the useful skill of explosives but he can also sing like all the other Rough Rhinos as Iroh said, so maybe the casino has an stage act and he gets himself hired as part of the 11's distraction tactics. Don't all casino's need a lounge singer? Or maybe being a singer at the casino has been his steady gig since the war ended and he hates it so instead of turning the 11 in at one point (when he catches one of them) to his casino boss, he makes a deal instead to join Sokka's group. He could then be their inside man at the casino.

And maybe Malu's got a job now as the casino dealer, he could be Yeh-Lu's stage partner, maybe he's clueless about the 11 though and doesn't become part of the scheme at all, but an unwitting obstacle the 11 have to deal with especially Yeh-Lu who has to keep his stage partner in the dark.

And Chit Sang should either already be employed as or at some point disguise himself as a bouncer at the casino. If the casino is run by the mob, it's possible Chit Sang has run into the boss of the club in the past or was even a former member of the mob.

Feel free to disregard any of this. I'm just thinking out loud.
